SFC introduces growth startups at its new event

Startup Funding Club showcases businesses ready for growth at the launch of its new investor event format at Home Grown.

On April 15th, Startup Funding Club was thrilled to invite investors to its brand new event, ‘Pitch, Please’! This Home Grown hosted night was aimed at investors looking to support more advanced early stage businesses than those showcased on SFC’s regular pitching and networking sessions.

Backed by the investment firm’s long term partners SFC Bennett Brooks and Withersworldwide, ‘Pitch Please’ kicked off with a powerful introduction by SFC’s founder and CEO Stephen Page. Following his foreword, guest speaker James Isilay talked about the astounding growth and success of one of SFC’s most notable alumni, Cognism, of which he is the co-founder and CEO. After the compelling introductions, four companies ready for growth had the opportunity to pitch to investors in search of opportunities to expand their business:

  • Founded by two Ex-Google employees, Bloom Magic is disrupting the traditional flower delivery market with a streamlined outsourced operating model, unique customer acquisition techniques, and a modern contemporary brand. The result is significant sales growth, strong unit economics, and growing market share in two markets (UK & Ireland).
  • Shetland Space Centre has been established to support the demand for small satellite launches in the UK (up to 200kg) with the aim of launching the first satellite in 2020. The Company will generate income from satellite launches conducted from the site, Ground Station data and analytics, and the associated facilities.
  • Learnerbly is the professional development platform disrupting the £275bn global market for workplace learning. Where LinkedIn is a snapshot of your past, Learnerbly aims to know and support you in where you are going. The platform tracks employees development goals and supports them to apply their learning at work thus helping businesses to both develop and retain top talent.
  • Adapting the successful US intensive outpatient model, Help Me Stop will establish a series of “Dayhab” addiction treatment centres initially in London & Home Counties, which will provide addiction treatment at a fraction of the cost of residential treatment.

After all companies pitched, the event concluded with a networking session that gave investors the chance to ask questions to the founders and discuss opportunities for further growth.
