We are very proud to announce that we have won one of the most prestigious awards in the venture capital/private equity industry – the Lead Syndicate of the Year by the UK Business Angels Association. The 2016 Angel Investment Awards Gala was hosted at the Dorchester Hotel in London’s Park Lane on Tuesday, on the 5th of July with over 300 guests.
Jenny Tooth, UK Business Angels Association CEO, gave a short introduction followed by Alicce Bentick, one of the co-founders of Entrepreneur First. The ceremony was continued by Kiki Loizou, Small Business Editor of the Sunday Times, who announced the winners in each category with the help of the sponsors. After an estimate of two tense but enjoyable hours, the award for Lead Syndicate of the Year Award was announced, and the winner was… Startup Funding Club!
The judges stated: “The Syndicate has demonstrated strong activity in the past year with over 35 investments comprising of leading players with entrepreneurial and industry expertise, including a significant 30% ratio of women investors. The investments have been made invest across a range of sectors and not just in London but in businesses across other regions in the UK co-investing with a range of other investment sources. The syndicate also shows a strong focus on leveraging its experienced investor base to identify Lead Angels to support the gonging growth and scale up of the portfolio.”
Among the many reasons the judges presented the award to us, we want to emphasise what makes us unique is our model; to invest from our SEIS Funds alongside business angels. SFC genuinely believes that this is the formula for success for both us and our esteemed investors, and we hope that more startups and investors will soon benefit from our philosophy.
